The Hunt For Veerappan delves into the life and crimes of Veerappan, a notorious forest brigand and poacher in Southern India. Likened to Robin Hood, the legendary Veerappan was active from the late 90s to the early 2000s. He not only ruled the jungles, but also became the targent of India’s most extensive and expensive manhunt.
The series provides a comprehensive look into his world, through the testimonies of the closest to him - his wife, former gang memmbers, and officers from the Special Task Force assigned to capture him.
Beyond the tales of crime, the series also sheds light on the underlying politics and central relationships, aiming to understand the enigma that Veerappan was.

The enduring opera Indra Sabha narrates love between a mortal and otherworldly fairy. Written in 1852 by Agha Hasan Amanat, the fantasy is in essence a love story for the ages: love found, forbidden, and requited.
The Peacock Country’s court is filled with festive silhouettes, embroidered with the tehzeeb of gold and silver Ganga Jamuna, aari, zardozdi and gota. Dancers spin in bibbed kalidaars, shararas and gararas with sheer organza trousers beneath. Engineered kurtas and lehengas are woven in rich brocades, while the classic jewelled colours of mixed silver and gold, forest green and saturated reds and indigo rival that of any dancing peacock.
Bold motifs draw from Mughal and Rajputana architecture and painting. The resulting dance drama which unfolds takes liberties, allowing the magic of storytelling to evolve on its own.

I was commissioned to create the opening logo title and main on end credits montage for the Netflix/ Blumhouse/ Red Chillies series Betaal. After research and pre production, I decided to go analog with acetone and a blower.
As a homage to Kyle Coopers style in Dawn of The Dead remake ( 2004). I printed the typeface on transparencies and destroyed them with acetone and blower techniques, then sped up the video and composited/ edited it along with the live action footage.

Cat Sticks weaves their stories into a chiaroscuro, traverses with them through states high and low, spaces real and unreal. A relentless downpour plays backdrop to lives balanced on a precarious high. Some of them seek a release, while others do not seem to want the night to end.
